Accredited
teachers Lena Powers and Stina Cowan founded the Swedish School
Association in Seattle in the summer of 1998. The
school offers complementary Swedish education according to the
Swedish Board of Education's curriculum to children who speak
Swedish. All education takes place at The Swedish Cultural
Center in Seattle once a week for 2.5 hours.
Curriculum in Swedish
The purpose of association’s
curriculum is to provide support for the organized education in
Swedish of Swedish children living in the Seattle area. The
focus of the instruction is to strengthen the students’

achieved by creating an environment supportive of the student's
language development, which is our primary goal.
The curriculum is comparable to the Swedish National Elementary
